Manaslu Circuit Trek

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu toward Machha Khola. The journey passes through beautiful hills, rivers, terraced farmland and rural settlements.

Overnight: Machha Khola

Altitude: Approx. 1,340–1,410 m
Trek: 6–7 hours

Begin trekking along the Budhi Gandaki River. The trail passes through forests, waterfalls, suspension bridges and small traditional villages before reaching Jagat.

Overnight: Jagat

Altitude: Approx. 1,800 m
Trek: 6–7 hours

The trail continues through the narrow Budhi Gandaki gorge. As you gain altitude, the landscape changes and the Himalayan environment becomes more prominent.

Overnight: Deng

Altitude: Approx. 2,630 m
Trek: 6–7 hours

Walk through pine and fir forests, cross suspension bridges and enjoy increasingly impressive views of the surrounding mountains. The cultural character of the upper Manaslu region becomes more noticeable.

Overnight: Namrung

Altitude: Approx. 3,180–3,500 m
Trek: 4–6 hours

The trail climbs gradually toward the high Himalayan villages. Tibetan Buddhist culture, prayer flags, mani walls and monasteries become an important part of the landscape.

Overnight: Lho or Shyala

Altitude: Approx. 3,520 m
Trek: 5–6 hours

Enjoy spectacular views of Manaslu and surrounding Himalayan peaks as you approach Samagaon, one of the most important villages on the circuit.

Altitude: Approx. 3,520 m

A rest and acclimatization day is essential before moving toward higher elevations.

You can take a short hike to Manaslu Base Camp, Birendra Lake, or explore the village and nearby monasteries.

Overnight: Samagaon

Altitude: Approx. 3,860 m
Trek: 4–5 hours

The landscape becomes increasingly alpine as you follow the Budhi Gandaki toward the Tibetan border. The short trekking day allows your body to adapt to the increasing altitude.

Overnight: Samdo

Altitude: Approx. 3,860 m

Another important acclimatization day before the Larkya La crossing.

A gradual hike toward the higher ridges provides excellent mountain views while helping your body adapt to the altitude.

Overnight: Samdo

Altitude: Approx. 4,460 m
Trek: 4–5 hours

The trail climbs toward Dharamsala, the final overnight stop before crossing Larkya La. The environment becomes colder and more rugged.

Overnight: Dharamsala / Larkya Phedi

Highest Point: Larkya La – approx. 5,106–5,160 m
Trek: 8–10 hours

This is the most challenging and memorable day of the trek.

Start early and climb gradually toward Larkya La Pass. From the top, you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Manaslu, Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal and surrounding peaks.

After crossing the pass, descend toward Bimthang.

Overnight: Bimthang

Altitude: Approx. 2,300 m
Trek: 5–7 hours

A dramatic change in scenery awaits as you descend from the alpine environment into forests and greener landscapes.

Overnight: Tilije

Altitude: Approx. 1,900 m

Continue toward Dharapani, where the Manaslu Circuit connects with the Annapurna trekking area. From Dharapani, take a road journey toward Besisahar or another suitable overnight point depending on road and transport conditions.

Overnight: Besisahar / en route

Drive: Approximately 6–8 hours

Enjoy the scenic drive back to Kathmandu. Your Manaslu Circuit adventure ends with unforgettable memories of the Himalayas, local culture and the magnificent Larkya La crossing.
