Overview

The Langtang Valley Trek is one of Nepal’s most rewarding short Himalayan adventures, combining spectacular mountain scenery, beautiful forests, ancient Buddhist culture and traditional Tamang villages.

Located north of Kathmandu near the Nepal–Tibet border, the Langtang region is one of the closest major trekking destinations to the capital. The area is dominated by Langtang Lirung (7,245 m) and is famous for its glaciers, high-altitude landscapes and rich Tamang and Tibetan-influenced culture.

The classic trek follows the scenic Langtang Valley from Syabrubesi to Kyanjin Gompa, passing through forests, waterfalls, suspension bridges, traditional settlements and alpine meadows.

The main trekking destination is Kyanjin Gompa at approximately 3,870 m, with optional day hikes to Kyanjin Ri or Tserko Ri for spectacular panoramic Himalayan views.

Day 01 :

Kathmandu to Syabrubesi

Altitude: Approx. 1,550 m
Drive: 7–8 hours

Your Langtang adventure begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu toward Syabrubesi. The road passes through beautiful hills, terraced farmland, rivers and traditional villages.

Syabrubesi is the main gateway to the Langtang Valley Trek.

Day 02 :

Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel

Altitude: Approx. 2,470 m
Trek: 5–6 hours

After breakfast, begin trekking through lush forests alongside the Langtang Khola.

The trail passes through rhododendron, oak and pine forests, with waterfalls and suspension bridges along the route.

As you gradually gain elevation, the landscape becomes more mountainous.

Overnight: Lama Hotel

Day 03 :

Lama Hotel to Langtang Village

Altitude: Approx. 3,430 m
Trek: 5–6 hours

Continue along the forested trail toward the upper Langtang Valley.

As the valley opens, magnificent mountain views begin to appear. You will pass through traditional settlements and encounter Buddhist prayer flags, mani walls and chortens.

Langtang Village is an important cultural settlement in the valley and provides an excellent introduction to the region's Tamang and Tibetan-influenced heritage.

Day 04 :

Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa

Altitude: Approx. 3,870 m
Trek: 3–4 hours

Today is a shorter but spectacular trekking day.

The trail passes through yak pastures, stone-built settlements, mani walls and beautiful Himalayan landscapes before reaching Kyanjin Gompa.

Kyanjin Gompa is the highest main settlement on the classic Langtang Valley route and is surrounded by spectacular Himalayan peaks and glaciers.

You can explore the village, monastery and nearby surroundings.

Day 05 :

Kyanjin Gompa Exploration Day

Altitude: 3,870 m
Optional viewpoint: Kyanjin Ri / Tserko Ri

Today is dedicated to exploring the upper Langtang Valley.

Depending on your fitness and weather conditions, you can choose:

Option 1: Kyanjin Ri

A shorter but rewarding hike offering excellent views of Langtang Lirung and surrounding peaks.

Option 2: Tserko Ri

For experienced and physically fit trekkers, the more demanding Tserko Ri hike reaches approximately 4,984 m and provides outstanding panoramic views of the Langtang Himalayan range.

You can also visit the local yak cheese production area and explore the traditional mountain settlement.Overnight: Kyanjin Gompa

Day 06 :

Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel

Altitude: Approx. 2,470 m
Trek: 5–6 hours

After breakfast, begin descending through the Langtang Valley.

The return journey offers a different perspective of the mountains and forests. Follow the trail through yak pastures, villages and forests before reaching Lama Hotel.

Day 07 :

Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi

Altitude: Approx. 1,550 m
Trek: 5–6 hours

Continue descending through the beautiful forest trail toward Syabrubesi.

Celebrate the completion of your Langtang Valley trekking adventure with your guide and trekking team.

Overnight: Syabrubesi

Day 08 :

Syabrubesi to Kathmandu

Drive: 7–8 hours

After breakfast, drive back to Kathmandu through the scenic Himalayan foothills.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, your Langtang Valley Trek with Molai Trekking officially comes to an end.
