Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek           

The Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek is one of Nepal’s most spectacular and remote Himalayan adventures. Located in eastern Nepal, the trek takes you deep into the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area, following a spectacular route around Mount Kanchenjunga, the world’s third-highest mountain at 8,586 meters.

This challenging circuit combines the dramatic landscapes of the North and South Kanchenjunga Base Camp regions, remote Himalayan villages, ancient Buddhist monasteries, rhododendron forests, glaciers, high mountain passes and extraordinary views of Kanchenjunga and surrounding peaks.

The route gradually changes from subtropical forests and terraced hills to alpine valleys, glacial landscapes and high Himalayan terrain. It is an ideal adventure for experienced trekkers looking for a genuine off-the-beaten-path Himalayan experience.

Best Time for Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek

Spring – March to May

Spring is an excellent time to trek, especially for rhododendron forests, pleasant temperatures and good mountain visibility.

Autumn – September to December

Autumn generally provides clear skies, stable weather and excellent Himalayan views.

Nepal Tourism Board officially lists March–May and September–November as the best seasons for Kanchenjunga Conservation Area.

Winter – December to February

Higher passes and base-camp areas can receive heavy snow and extreme cold, making the trek considerably more difficult.

Monsoon – June to August

Lower sections can experience heavy rainfall, landslides and muddy trails, while flight and road schedules may also be affected.

Kanchenjunga Conservation Area

The Kanchenjunga Conservation Area (KCA) was established in 1997 and covers approximately 2,035 sq. km. It is located in Taplejung district in the far eastern Himalayas of Nepal.

The conservation area contains remarkable biodiversity, high Himalayan peaks and diverse ethnic communities.

According to Nepal Tourism Board, the area contains:
